Stimulants

Since I was relatively little (elementary or early middle school), I've been on Ritalin. It works, sure, but it also rewires you in subtle ways. Focus comes at a cost—it's as if the world gets quieter, but so do your emotions. I've been thinking more critically lately about the trade-offs of long-term stimulant use, especially for kids. We talk about productivity a lot, but maybe not enough about authenticity.
